Monument Restoration Program
Established in 1998 the monument restoration program’s primary function is to assist Manitoba municipalities, cities and towns with the costs of re-establishment of survey monumentation infrastructure which fall within their mandates under The Surveys Act (C.C.S.M.).
This initiative is managed and maintained by the Office of the Registrar- General and The Property Registry, with involvement from the Association of Manitoba Municipalities, City of Winnipeg and the Consulting Surveyors of Manitoba.
This successful program not only benefits Manitoba local governing districts, but also encourages growth within these jurisdictions by moderating development costs and streamlining the process of replacement of certain lost or damaged outline survey monumentation thereby reducing delays in the development process and construction.
The program benefits also reach private land owners. When adequate survey infrastructure is maintained, costly land disputes are minimized.
